Accessibility Statement

Backer aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. Backer is a prototype today, and it does not meet that standard everywhere yet. The known gaps are listed below.

Pages can be used with a keyboard, apart from the limits listed below, and the item that has keyboard focus is outlined so you can see where you are.

A Skip to content link at the start of every page jumps past the navigation.

Each page has one main heading, and form fields have labels that screen readers announce.

If your device is set to reduce motion, the scrolling trade ticker stops and cards no longer move when you point at them.

The colors used for text were checked against their backgrounds, and each reaches a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 to 1.

Backer is a prototype. It has not yet been tested with screen readers or other assistive technology by the people who use them.

The details shown when you point at a price chart work only with a mouse or touch. They cannot be reached with a keyboard or read by a screen reader yet; the chart itself has a text summary.

A few fields, such as the search box at the top of the page and the amount box when you trade, show their name only as placeholder text inside the box. A screen reader still announces a label, but the visible name disappears once you start typing.

We are working to fix each of these.
